"Brother B. The Seamster"

This is the first project of the 2023!!!!!!

Seeing my Stepdad tap into his craft brings tears to my eyes, its such a beautiful thing when you are gifted with the tools to create! Over the past 20 years I've heard over and over my pop was a master seamster back in his country, what country is that you might ask? Guyana, known as "The Land of Many Waters" For years, anytime I would bring him things to sew, he would always say in his accent, "Me Ain't Got no Sewing Machine". After picking up a few pieces from the thrift store I recently asked him to stitch them up for me, and he gave me that same reply, I said to myself I have to do something to change that. I later went to my mother and said, We have to get pop a sewing machine, she agreed we went half on a Brand New Singer Sewing Machine that cost roughly $300 bucks. After acquiring his new Singer he appeared satisfied, but that didn't seem to hit the spot, something was missing. He told me He needed a sewing table but did not have the money. I called up my two younger Brother's Kevin and Winston and they also agreed to help out by going half on the sewing table and the rest was history.

Gandhi Spiritual Amnesty

We all may or may not know who Mahandi Gandhi was, one thing is for certain he was a human being. Mohandas/Mahatma Gandhi, lead Non-Violent Protesting Great Salt March of 1930 to demonstrate against British oppression Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule, and to later inspire movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. As recently discovered his earlier indoctrination embodied a racist undertone that has now engendered his entire legacy.

Red Cardinals:1. Love 2. Loyalty 3. Fertility 4. Renewal and Life 5. Spiritual Messengers 7. Passion

The Staff: The rod represents God’s discipline and the staff represents God’s guidance. Both are used to protect God’s followers from harm. Rods and staves are also used as symbols of leadership or authority in the Bible.

The Halo: The halo is symbolic of universal energy,

The Triangle: The Triangle is symbolic of the mind, body, and soul. The Father, The Son, and Holy Spirit. Love, compassion, and forgiveness.

Orange Lilies: Orange has always been a color that’s associated with a refreshing sense of confidence and energy. The bright, bold, show stopping color speaks to feelings of warmth and positivity around the world. Orange lilies stand for happiness, love, and warmth. Luke 12-27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Four City Brewery is an amazing Brewery Company address, 55 S Essex Ave Orange, NJ 07050. Located in the heart of the community, Four City is just outside the Orange St, train station, The Althletics Arts Academy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQvZO3fSDHk&t=41s and around the corner from the the PostOffice on Main St. This Brewery encompasses the cultural integrity of all 4 sections of Orange. I have spent much time here over the past 2 years and man I must say from the owners, down to the beer and just the over all ambience of the place is fantastic. I had the pleasure of floating my drone and camera through and around their place and it was such a great time. I want to thank Roger Apollon and Anthony Minervino for always opening their doors. “Protect Black Women” Directors: Lorenzo Pickett, Ibn Sharif Shakoor This is not an idea, this is a statement we must live by! This project was personal for me on so many levels having a wife, daughters, and being raised predominantly by my mom, grandma, 8 aunts and a host of other power females I know a thing or two about the divinity of the black woman. I have to give a huge shout out to my partner and brother Ibn Sharif Shakoor for being the engine and brains behind this project!

Questions I had to ask myself,

Why is it worth doing?

What can I do to evoke people to share their story?

How can I use my art to connect with humanity?

I can not equate my transformation to one particular thing, so to sum it all up there are 3 things that subsequently helped me to transform.

1. The death of my father

2. Becoming a parent

When I initially embarked on this project it was simply to create a body of work that would reflect the internal changes I had encountered. I state in my Bio, "My body of work is a cogitation of perseverance. It facilitates the many transitions I make as a person and as an artist" After wrapping up the butterfly installation I shared with a few individuals and Dayanara was one of the few whom deeply resonated with it. After sharing her connection to butterflies I felt compelled to include her on this venture this is what we produced.

I can not equate my transformation to one particular experience so to sum it up there are three things that subsequently helped me to transform.

Black History Exhibition!!!!

Hey Guys, 

Super excited to share with you all, The opening of last nights show was stellar! I will be exhibiting at Jersey City, City Hall, John Meagher, Rotunda Gallery, 3rd floor, I will be displaying "King Malcolm" and "Khalief Browder" The works will be display throughout the remaining month.
